After looking through many of the Van Gogh paintings, I chose Starry  Night because I loved the swirls, the cypress tree, and the moon. It is my favorite Van Gogh painting. Starry Night was painted in 1889 in Saint Remy.

I used the colors blue and green the most because those two go together and it is night time.  I also used a lot of different colors in my painting. I know my painting is brighter than Van Gogh's because I used pink, purple and red so my swirls would show up better and brighter than Van Gogh's did.  I also used a lot of swirls because Van Gogh used a lot.

I am pleased with the moon and the stars because I like bright colors. For my swirls I used craypas to outline them so they would stand out. Using them helped me to put in more detail. I  am also pleased with some of the hills  because I used the right shade of green and it came out great.

I am unsure of the cypress tree. I think I should have made the whole tree more curvy. I think I may have put too many stars in my work. I would work on the cypress tree more and the stars. I used a lot of circles to make my stars.

I thought this project was so much fun. I loved learning  about Vincent Van Gogh. I learned that Van Gogh used thick paint and never smiled in his self portraits, never, not even once. I enjoyed learning about this famous painter very much.  I also learned that Vincent cut a part of his ear off, just a small part, and sent it to a woman that he liked.  Also, I learned that he had a bad life but he still loved to paint.  Painting took the anger away and calmed him down and made him feel better.
