For my painting I chose Starry Night. I chose Starry Night because I liked the way Vincent Van Gogh painted it. Also, my favorite color is blue. Van Gogh painted Starry Night in 1889 in Saint-Remy.

         I think I used the elements of color and shape the most in my painting.  I used cool colors for the Cypress tree, sky and hills. I used warm colors for the moon, stars and houses. For my painting I  used both organic and geometric shapes. For the wind I used curvy lines. For the stars I used orange daubs of paint. I used thin and thick brushstrokes. I used a black marker to outline the houses and the Cypress tree. I painted the wind light blue so you can see it. I also used different colored cray-pas to add more detail. My hills are more of a darker green because I think they look good like that. 

     All the things I painted I think came out pretty well, especially the Cypress tree and the sky. I’m very pleased with the way my Cypress tree came out. I think the colors and  the shape of it came out just about the way I wanted them to. When you look at my Cypress tree you can see that it has quite a bit of green and brown in it. I’m also pleased with the way my houses came out. Vincent Van Gogh’s houses were darker then my version but I like my houses mostly in warm colors. I used Cray-pas for the houses because the houses were small and were hard to paint. I used paint for everything else. You can tell it’s night time because the sky is dark and also the hills are a dark green color. 

      If I could, I would probably work more on my houses by adding a little more detail to them. Also, I would work on the hills a little bit more. I’m mostly unsure about the stars and the church. I think I could have put more detail into the stars and mixed some more colors with the church. I'm especially unsure of the hills on the lower left. I think they probably should have been a bit darker.

     I think this project turned out to be magnificent and terrific. I think we all learned a lot from it. I know that I did. I learned that painting pictures can be fun and I also learned more about painting. Now I think I'm much better at painting and drawing. I also learned that Vincent Van Gogh didn't have a very good life and not many people liked him. Van Gogh sold one painting called The Red Vineyard. It was very interesting learning about Van Gogh. I think that this project was fun and I hope to do something like it again.
