Dear Vincent,

My name is Marie. I live in Ludlow, Vermont. I am writing to you because you were a good painter.  I am in 3rd grade. I like to go swimming. My favorite sport is soccer.

I smiled in my self-portrait because I was having a good day and I was happy. How come you did not smile in your self-portraits? I used the Rule of Halves to help me make my nose, eyes, lips and ears in the right places.  I was wearing a green shirt and blue pants. I was wearing my green shirt because I like it. I painted the background light blue . I think it made my blue eyes stand out better.

I want you to know that I like your paintings. They are pretty.
