My version is of Van Gogh's  Starry Night. I picked Starry Night because it has lots of swirls and a mix of  bright and dark colors. I like bright and dark colors so that's why I picked Starry Night. I like the sky because it has lots of colors. I like the town because some of the lights are on and some are off. I can almost imagine Van Gogh looking at this village. Starry Night was painted in 1889 during the Saint Remy  period.

In my painting I used soap flakes in the paint to make it thicker so that it will have more texture.  I also put two layers of paint so it would have more texture, like Van Gogh's. I also used swirls because Van Gogh used them. I added purple to them because I didn't like the white. My wind has three colors: blue, yellow and purple. I tried to make it move across the painting. With the moon I mixed blue and yellow to make green because Van Gogh used green in his moon. I mixed them instead of just using green paint because I wanted to be more like a real painter.

I like the sky, the wind and the Cypress tree in my painting. I like the way the wind moves across the painting. I like the cypress because I think it looks just like Van Gogh's. I like my sky because it really stands out. The swirls bring attention to the sky.

I am unsure of my houses because they are crooked. I would like to make their lines straighter.

I thought this was a fun project.  I learned that Vincent Van Gogh shot himself and died three days later. I felt sad that he killed himself. I enjoyed learning about one artist because I learned a lot about him.
