| Municipal Manager Frank Heald visited recently with Fourth Graders to "talk trash"; Ludlow's trash, that is. Mr. Heald explained what a Transfer Station is, how it operates, and why it isn't "THE DUMP" anymore. In preparation for a visit to Ludlow's Transfer Station later this month, Mr. Heald explained how different items can be separated from trash and eventually recycled. To illustrate, he brought in examples of paper, metal, glass and plastic that can be collected for recycling. He also explained why batteries and the new "swirly" compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL) should NEVER be thrown in the trash. If you don't know why this is so, ask a 4th Grader!
